Electric Boosts Its International Business

Electric Entertainment is taking attention at the international content market. Having started as another American independent film and TV series producer and distributor, now handles a row of successful series —Leverage: Redemption, The Ark, Almost Paradise— that are aired in leading platforms and take the company upper into consideration for overseas alliances.

What is its secret? Let’s listen to Dean Devlin, CEO: ‘Basically, we keep ourselves evolving but maintaining always the basics that made us grow. I started with production and distribution in 2011, and for Electric we’ve made focus on series that let people escape from their day by day: action, thrillers, science fiction, some comedies. Then, we improved the production, both number of titles and production levels. We took popular brands as ‘Leverage’ and we created the spin-off continuation of the seriessequel, accessing to US big platforms as Amazon Freevee and SYFY Channel’.

‘We have both episodic and serialized series, to feed all audiences. And, very important, though we have big budget prime time series, we’ve continued with the same customer service we had in our origins, taking care of the details, providing a lot of information to the platforms to introduce better the contents: rating, data of the talent, international performance, etc. This is extremely appreciated by our customers, and push new ventures. Sonia Mehandjiyska is in charge of international distribution’.

‘Internationally, we are moving well. We have good business in Europe, in some Asian territories as India, we are growing in most of the regions, as Latin America, Middle East. Now the independent but major alike content is very requested worldwide, because it combines the best of the two worlds. T: the product of a major, the commercialization rules of an independent, and genres that help to escape as usual. The basics perform globally’.

‘What can we say about Electric in the future? A big announce is coming, we will speak about it soon. But above all, we have many streaks to follow: our AVOD/FAST channel, the app ElectricNow, 360 licensing developmens, co-productions, alliances, etc.a lot to do in 360 licensing developments, international alliances, co-productions, synergies with big brands, special regional players, etc. The current company is just 4 years old, we are on the beginning. The intention, for the times to come, is to keep ourselves innovative, inspiring, hopeful., both for our partners and customers’.
